About CHP Polymers Ltd

Founded in Sheffield – one of the greenest cities in the UK – we want to protect what we love, and plastic recycling is one of the best ways to help reduce the environmental impact of commercial business in the UK.

As one of the most widely used materials in disposable packaging, a lot of plastic is simply thrown in the bin and ends up in landfill – a decomposition process which will last about 500 years! At CHP Polymers, we know how valuable plastic really is and want to make sure we are making the best use of our finite resources. Virgin plastics (meaning they have no recycled content) are made from oil which is one of the planets most valuable resources. In the future, we could use oil to produce our food – you can make just about anything from oil. The more plastic we recycle, the more resources we can reserve for the most important uses future generations will need oil for.

With an estimated five million tonnes of plastics used every year in the UK, it is staggering to learn that nearly half of this volume is packaging. At CHP Polymers, this fact is one of our main motivations to lead the way in plastics sorting, collecting and recycling in the UK. Rather than allow our valuable oil-based resources to be buried in landfill, or incinerated, we want to see all plastics recycled and for the UK to become one of the leaders in recycling.
