Households collect about 50-60 percent separately via a PMD bag (Plastic, Metal, Drinking Cartons) ( source ). How often these bags are collected varies per municipality. The bags then go to a sorting center to sort out the different materials, including packaging films. Many films served as food packaging. They are therefore often contaminated with residual substances.

For commonly used materials, it makes sense to reuse or recycle them. The advantage of recycling is that we reduce the amount of waste and less waste ends up in the environment. It also means that we have to burn less plastic and that there are fewer emissions. Recycling helps to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases, which reduces the impact on the environment.
